National Bargaining Update

On February 27, 2018, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division-IBT and SMART-Mechanical reached agreement with the National Carriers’ Conference Committee to achieve a final and binding agreement in the current round of freight rail bargaining.  The outstanding issue to be decided in arbitration is the design of the health insurance benefits applicable to BMWED and SMART-Mechanical represented railroad workers in this round of bargaining.  The parties expect a final decision in matter by late Spring.
