R. C. Bechdoldt, an Eagle Scout who is active with Venture Crew 34
at the Neosho United Methodist Church, participated in the opening
ceremonies of the 1999 Miss USA Pageant at Branson, Missouri's Grand
Palace Theater in January. He and 51 other Eagle Scouts, all from
Ozark Trails Council, escorted the participants. Bechdoldt escorted
Miss Washington, Tammy Jensen. His father, Rodney, is a welding
foreman for the Kansas City Southern Railroad at Neosho, Missouri and
is a member of Local Lodge 1540. He thinks the Scouts followed the
Scout motto of "Do A Good Turn Daily" as one of the reasons
for participating in the event.
